A huge thank you and well done to all our volunteers who worked so hard to make this year’s fete such a success. The weather was glorious, and a huge crowd of people came to join us for our day in the Enniscorthy Showgrounds.
There were a large crowd of dogs at the pet dog show with some beautiful dogs on display. A very big thank you to Vivienne Rothwell, our guest judge, for her great work on the day and to Gain petfood nutrition for their generous sponsorship of the prizes. We had 10 different categories including waggiest tail and best child handler. The winner in each category was automatically entered into the champions round and there were some beautiful dogs on display for the best in show final.
Visitors to the fete really enjoyed the delicious food being served on the day. We had delicious cakes and sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs, crepes, strawberries and ice cream on offer.
Our stall holders were kept very busy as people shopped for clothes, bric-a-brac, country produce, books and toys. It is wonderful to see pre-loved items being re-used.
People tried their luck at the bottle stall, the treasure hunt and the various raffles and lucky dip competitions on the day.
The children’s activities were really appreciated, and the young people enjoyed duck racing, hang tough, face-painting and hook-a-duck. We are very grateful to Macra na Feirme who loaned us the ‘hang tough’ apparatus. This proved very popular with the young people as they tested their strength to hang for as long as possible.
Thank you to the parents of St. Mary’s National School for providing a free children’s stall with games, balloons and a colouring station.
Sincere thanks to all who supported the Parish Fete in any way and to everyone who worked hard behind the scenes. We were so delighted with the warm and friendly atmosphere which made it such an enjoyable day.
